The music of cornet player Eric Boeren is characterized by strong, often jumpy melodies in challenging keys and time signatures; no wonder his quartet is made up of some of the best players on the Dutch improvised music scene, with Michael Moore, Wilbert de Joode and Han Bennink. The unmistakably contemporary music ‘gives new meaning to the description Hot Jazz’ and sounds ‘pretty damn frolicsome’ according to Downbeat. Eric Boeren consciously chose a similar line-up as the acoustic quartet of his great example, Ornette Coleman.
