ENSEMBLE MODERN KARLHEINZ STOCKHAUSEN MANTRA

On February 6 and 7 the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ venue presents a festival with eight concerts dedicated to outstanding avant-garde composers Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007) and Mauricio Kagel (1931-2008). The festival offers a fascinating look into the world of these composers, who seem totally different at first glance. Both of them are sources of inspiration for musicians from numerous directions, jazz and pop included. At the Bimhuis the Ensemble Modern will perform the composition Mantra (1970) by Stockhausen, a revolutionary work for two pianists and live electronics. Ensemble Modern employs electronics in a unique way, in combination with effects and small percussion instruments.
