ENRICO RAVA TRIBE feat. GIANLUCA PETRELLA
Afterwards in the café: DJ Michael Moore
Enrico Rava trumpet, Gianluca Petrella trombone, Giovanni Guidi piano, Gabriele Evangelista bass, Fabrizio Sferra drums
The seasoned performance style of Italian master trumpet player Enrico Rava is at the heart of sultry, atmospheric jazz on the album Tribe (2012), which received a five star review in The Guardian. Ever since the 1960s Rava has strived to achieve a balance between melody and abstraction, between tradition and avant-garde and between European and American music. He has often collaborated with exceptional trombonists, such as Roswell Rudd. In his current band he plays with trombone talent Gianluca Petrella. ‘They’re a marvelous pair’ (Downbeat).
