Endea Owens & the Cookout
Friday7 July 2023

Endea Owens is the vibrant leader of the six-piece band The Cookout. With her compositions and funky double bass style she aims to spread positivity. Just like she does with The Community Cookout, the non-profit organization she founded during Covid, providing meals and music to underserved neighborhoods in New York City. This year will see the release of the group’s first album, Feel Good Music.

Endea Owens has been mentored by double bass icons such as Ron Carter and Rodney Whitaker. After graduating from The Juilliard School, she joined The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as a member of the house band, Stay Human. She has collaborated with major pop and jazz artists, from H.E.R. and Solange to Dee Dee Bridgewater and Wynton Marsalis. She has also played on the Grammy-winning album We Are by Jon Batiste.
