Elliot Galvin is a trailblazer in the British jazz scene with an original approach to piano and other keyboard instruments. He composed his new album The Ruin on his childhood piano, inspired by the landscapes of his hometown. The music free-flows between serpentine piano and modular synth lines weaving and colliding around ephemeral vocalisations, groove-heavy percussion and soulful improvisations.
Elliot Galvin previously performed on our stage as a solo-artist, with his trio, and with the band Dinosaur. Now he will form a group with Dinosaur bassist and vocalist Ruth Goller, violinist Mandhira de Saram, and Polar Bear drummer and Patti Smith and Damon Albarn collaborator Sebastian Rochford. The Ruin will appear on the London-based label Gearbox, who have released albums by the likes of Abdullah Ibrahim and Binker & Moses.
Ruth Goller vocals/bass, Mandhira de Saram violin, Elliot Galvin piano/synths, Sebastian Rochford drums
