Ella Zirina solo | Tijs Klaassen Kwintet

In the past years we built a strong connection with the young musicians that will perform in this twofold concert. Guitarist Ella Zirina released her debut album on BIMHUIS Records and will now present its follow-up. And the members of the Tijs Klaassen Kwintet have already performed on our stage in various line-ups. Now this band will release a new album as well.

Ella Zirina will play compositions from her new solo album Unraveler on DOX Records. The music cycles through various moods, exploring textures and techniques and celebrating the guitar in all its capricious beauty. The Latvian guitarist graduated with the highest honours at Conservatorium van Amsterdam, having studied with, among others, Jesse van Ruller and Reinier Baas.

Tijs Klaassen is a highly demanded bassist in Dutch jazz. His quintet is a close group of friends who, despite their young age, have been playing together for almost a decade. They feel right at home in the borderlands between jazz, classical music, electronics and free improvisation. This spring will see the release of their new album Adhocism on ZenneZ Records and Elastic Records.
