Super talents from the Israeli jazz scene led by tenor saxophonist Eli Degibri, who collaborated with Herbie Hancock and Brad Mehldau. ‘An exceptionally melodic improviser with a big, bold tenor tone’ (Jazz Times).

Eli Degibri became known as the saxophone player in the bands of Herbie Hancock (1999-2002) and Al Foster (2002-2011). He is praised not only for his warm, bold tenor playing but also for his ability to tell stories with his compositions and improvisations. For years he was part of New York’s jazz elite and on his own albums he played with big names such as Brad Mehldau and Ron Carter. Last year he returned to his native Israel, where he collaborates with super talents. At the Bimhuis he will perform with his long-time bassist Barak Mori, with the 18 year-old pianist Gadi Lehavi and with the 20 year-old drummer Ofri Nehemya, who’s known from touring with double bassist Avishai Cohen.

‘Degibri’s tone is robust, yet airy, and he leads the group in surprising turnarounds’ (Downbeat).
