Bigband extravaganza with special guest Paquito d’Rivera, undoubtedly the greatest saxophonist in latin jazz, plus four Dutch super sax players.
The Dutch Concert Big Band creates extravaganza on stage, together with top soloists. The big band plays pieces from its freshly released CD and especially for this evening Jasper Blom has written a new composition for saxophone quartet and big band. After the break we welcome Paquito d’Rivera, undoubtedly the greatest saxophonist in latin jazz. The Cuban grand old man, or ‘Paqman’, has reached the age of 66 but still plays like a young god, rocking the crowd with arrangements especially written for him. Tonight the band is directed by Johan Plomp.
