DUO BAARS-HENNEMAN

AUTUMN SONGS

Ab Baars tenorsax/clarinet/shakuhachi, Ig Henneman viola, Oscar Jan Hoogland piano

As separate band leaders they are leading voices in the world of Dutch jazz and improvisation. Viola player Ig Henneman and multi-reedist Ab Baars have been playing together since the 1980s and since 1999 have been performing as an internationally renowned duo.

Returning from their extensive U.S. tour they present their program Autumn Songs, in which they balance between original compositions and completely improvised parts, choosing their own paths along jazz, classical music and more popular idioms. ‘There’s a breathless tension in these musical dialogues… incredibly touching and intellectually thrilling’ (Signal to Noise).During the second set, the duo performs with pianist Oscar Jan Hoogland.
