DON BYRON IVEY DIVEY TRIO
Don Byron-clarinets, Jason Moran-piano, Billy Hart-drums
Ivey Divey’ was a much appreciated expression of Lester Young, one of the greatest tenor players and musical master minds in the history of jazz music. The CD of the same name by Don Byron, on which he plays pieces to be associated with Young, has the same kind of character as his everlasting work. This means: solos in which new melodic lines are woven, melancholic warmth and feather light swing. Byron’s approach is based on Young’s trio recordings with Buddy Rich and Nat Cole, their place, this time, occupied by drummer Billy Hart and pianist Jason Moran.
