dOeK FESTIVAL #9

The dOeK Festival presents group improvisation at 0the highest level. dOeK consists of independent musicians, all of them active in several ensembles. Cornet player Eric Boeren plays his own compositions in Available Jelly, which has been active for 30 years now. Piano player Oscar Jan Hoogland creates instant compositions with The Ambush Party. Trombone player Wolter Wierbos will play a duo with Kris Defoort, the Belgian pianist who made name for himself in the New York Downtown scene. Pianist Cor Fuhler will explore the sonic possibilities of the electric guitar with The Gap. Special guest is the innovative Scandinavian power trio The Thing.

Between 18:30 and 20:30 the Bimhuis restaurant serves a dOeK-dish (€ 10) and dOeK-menu (€ 16), or the usual a la carte. Restaurant reservations: 020-7882158.

During this break movies will be shown from the archive of the INfIM (International Institute for Improvisation). Also his installation IOM (Interactive Improvising Interdisciplinary Orchestral Machine) can be seen during the festival in the entrance hall of the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ.
