DOEK ABC FESTIVAL 2016

This year’s Doek Festival celebrates three world cities as
flourishing environments for improvised music. The opening night
features Michael Moore’s and Oscar Jan Hoogland’s international bands
alongside Berlin trio Hyperactive Kid.

Amsterdam, Berlin and Chicago are important junctions for improvised music. Musicians from all over the world meet each other in these ‘capitals of improvisation’ thanks to a network of venues and organizations. The Doek Festival 2016 brings together musicians from the three cities in both new and existing formations. The six day festival opens at the Bimhuis with three bands: the Michael Moore Bigtet from Amsterdam, the trio Hyperactive Kid from Berlin and Oscar Jan Hoogland’s Chicago 4tet.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
