DEON bursts with singable melodies. DEON is raw, intimate and moving all at the same time. DEON is the new quintet of double bassist Dion Nijland, who brings together different jazz generations. The young, energetic players Mees Siderius (drums, vibraphone) and Ruben Drenth (trumpet) join forces with adventurers Ad Colen (saxophones), Steven Kamperman (clarinets) and Dion Nijland (double bass).

DEON presents the new album Soft Steel, with twelve compositions by Dion Nijland that combine power and clarity with emotional expression. Initial doodles, sketches and suggestions on paper have slowly changed into a lively, human sound. Structured compositions will be passionately bent out of shape by the players in DEON, who set a new course for themselves through improvisation. Soft Steel will appear this fall on TryTone Records.
