DIEDERIK RIJPSTRA’S WAMPUM

Diederik Rijpstra trumpet, Joost Lijbaart drums, Dimitar Bodurov piano, Clemens van der Feen bass

Trumpet player Diederik Rijpstra is going through a period of rapid development in his current residence of New York. His fresh, narrative style of playing had already caught the public eye in the young, critically acclaimed quintet Quincey. His new band Wampum was named after the colored shells that the Indians used as their currency. ‘Surprising, not merely because of the ethereal and courageous playing… particularly intriguing are the unconstrained and evolving compositions’ (Volkskrant).
