Top players from the international gypsy jazz world will unite for the sixth edition of Django Amsterdam. Friday night opens with the energetic trio of Dennis Pol. This young Greek-Italian guitarist Pol is quickly making a name for himself. With a retro swing manouche vibe coupled with a modern approach, his latest album New York City blazes through a repertoire of both Reinhardt and original compositions.
The legendary guitarist Jimmy Rosenberg is making his comeback in style teaming up with fellow gypsy guitar virtuoso Amati Schmitt. This is a one off performance special for this years Django Amsterdam. For gypsy jazz fans worldwide, Jimmy Rosenberg needs no introduction. He’s done it all and is about to do it again! Amati Scmitt, son of Dorado, is regarded by many as one of the finest young guitar talents today. This show will dazzle and leave you breathless, serious virtuosity, monster chops and hard swinging! Tonight Jimmy & Amati are joined by rhythm guitar monster Martin Limberger and double bass phenomenon Sani Van Mullem. Hold on to your seats, this will be one HOT show!
Prior to the concerts the guitar duo of Ian Date and Jan de Jong will provide a lyrical and swinging ambiance at the BIMHUIS restaurant. After the show everyone is invited to dance at the late night jam session featuring the Dennis Pol Acoustic Trio.
