DEBORAH BROWN, SJOERD DIJKHUIZEN & TRIO REIN DE GRAAFF
Deborah Brown-vocals, Sjoerd Dijkhuizen-tenor saxophone, Rein de Graaff-piano, Marius Beets-double bass, Eric Ineke-drums
Deborah Brown’s excellent vocal qualities and warm, soulful voice reminds you of Nancy Wilson and Sarah Vaughan. She has a strong sense for improvisation, a dazzling technique and is blessed with a scat quick as lightning. She therefore never performs in a ‘sugary’ way but is adventurous and sometimes even a bit rough, in the right sense of the word. Her collaboration with tenor saxophonist Sjoerd Dijkhuizen, one of the leading players in the JOC (with a Hank Mobley feel), promises a lot.
