DAVID SANCHEZ QUARTET
David Sanchez-tenor saxophone, Edsel Gomez-piano, Hans Glawischnig-double bass, Adam Cruz-drums
The Puerto Rican tenor player David Sanchez carries on the honorable tradition of latin jazz in a contemporary and distinct way. He went to the best possible ‘schools’ for that, the orchestras of Dizy Gillespie and Eddie Palmieri. That the temperature will reach boiling point is a fact but as his albums ‘Melaza’ and ‘Travesia’ prove, Sanchez can do more than bringing on the heat: he follows his own inventive road in the wealth of chords of postbop and he is also capable of seducing with reflections of romance.
