Guus Janssen is a leading Dutch composer as well as a masterful piano improviser. His music is a synthesis of classical and jazz, and of composition and improvisation. Bonanzo (2014), composed for big band, is Janssen’s magnum opus according to band leader David Kweksilber. Alongside a spectacular performance of this piece, the David Kweksilber Big Band will play additional new compositions by Janssen.

Prior to the concert, during the break and afterwards: DJ/VJ Peter Kok with unique historical music and visuals.

‘Thanks to its regular gigs at the Bimhuis this group has amalgamated into a buzzing organic factory with a strong repertory. The enormous wealth of timbre is the strength of this company. The open attitude of all its members makes it an incredibly elastic ensemble. They’re very attractive to go see in concert because they play with so much joy’ (de Volkskrant).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
