The David Kweksilber Big Band shifts boundaries, with new music
including the composition Instructions by Renard Aust and Rodrigo Faina,
which was inspired by the poetry of Julio Cortázar.

Jazz
and bebop have inspired the famous Argentinean writer Julio Cortázar,
who in his turn influenced many others, including European filmmakers
such as Jean-Luc Godard and Michelangelo Antonioni. His poetry has been
put to music by German composer Renard Aust and Argentinean composer
Rodrigo Faina. The title of their new work, Instructions, refers to
Cortázar’s Instruction Manual, a guide to mind-expanding exercises such
as winding a watch, crying and climbing a staircase. Alongside this
composition the big band will perform Vanessa Lann’s Stap Verder.
