DAVID BINNEY WITH CRAIG TABORN, SCOTT COLLEY, BRIAN BLADE

On his website David Binney recently listed albums that he likes listening to. From hard rock to slick fusion and from Mahler to Underworld; it said a lot about the versatility of this American jazz musician. His latest CDs are just as varied in style, which could be the reason that Binney was chosen as best alto saxophonist of 2007 in both the Readers and the Critics Poll of Downbeat. Tonight’s gig features his explosive acoustic quartet. Each of the players in his group is a band leader and composer in his own right.
