Two key figures of contemporary jazz join forces in Soundprints Quintet. Trumpet player Dave Douglas and saxophone player Joe Lovano have won numerous Downbeat Polls and Jazz Journalists Association Awards. The name of their new band refers to the composition ‘Footprints’ by Wayne Shorter and the repertory contains brand new music by Shorter himself. Douglas and Lovano have been performing Shorter’s music together before, with the SFJazz Collective. Soundprints combines young talent with such established names as Joey Baron.
