The American trumpet player Dave Douglas, again Trumpeter Of The Year (Downbeat), has a technique that makes him able to realize anything that comes into his mind. Very convenient indeed since only a few musicians cover a field as broad as he does: from hard bop to new arrangements of Webern and Strawinsky to Eastern European folk music. The memorable Bimhuis concert of the Dave Douglas Quintet in 2002 came out on a double album last year, called Live At The Bimhuis.
