DAVE DOUGLAS QUINTET

Dave Douglas-trumpet, Donnie McCaslin-tenor sax, Orrin Evans-Fender Rhodes, James Genus-bass, Clarence Penn-drums

It is evident that Dave Douglas has put his stamp on recent American music history. For years he has been voted best trumpet player in important polls. Douglas has collaborated with a great variety of celebrities, from Tom Waits to John Zorn. Meanwhile he recorded no less than 21 albums of original music in the last 15 years. In his renewed quintet he offers space to brilliant tenor soloist Donny McCaslin and keyboard player Orrie Evans on Fender Rhodes. Steamy jazz that takes Miles Davis’ classic 1960s quintet as a point of departure.
