Everyone, who remembers the excellent quartet performances of the year 2002, will be very happy to find them together again, this time as a duo. Dave Douglas, the trumpet virtuoso who embraces all styles and Misha Mengelberg, the patriarch of ‘instant composing’ and the man who’s compositions strongly inspired Douglas two years ago. The humour, the melodies, the structures, Douglas sensed it all and he kept his cool during Mengelberg’s unorthodox approaches of the compositions. A high level conversation is to be expected again.
