During the DATSKAT Festival we remove our seats, transform our hall into a nightclub (complete with an epic view of the city), and present the best jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat, and neo-soul from the Netherlands and beyond. Featuring Sons of Jumira and Theon Cross on Friday, March 27, and ROSEYE and Allysha Joy on Saturday, March 28, including an afterparty in our café.
ROSEYE
ROSEYE delivers a unique blend of soul, jazz, rock, hip-hop, and electronic music. Led by Scottish/Australian singer and saxophonist Tallulah Rose, the band has performed at prestigious venues and festivals like North Sea Jazz, Into The Great Wide Open, and ESNS. Their music is rich with improvisation and explores spiritual, emotional, and political themes. Following their debut album Every Move and the EP Ways of Speaking, a new studio album is set for release this year.
‘A young powerhouse band … channels soul, funk, R&B, jazz, punk, indie, into a sound that’s unmistakably their own’ (NPO).
Allysha Joy
Allysha Joy masterfully combines poetry and live performance. The singer, songwriter, and keyboardist made her mark as the lead vocalist of 30/70 and has collaborated with acclaimed acts like Ezra Collective, The Teskey Brothers, and KOKOROKO. Her debut album Acadie : Raw was named one of Bandcamp’s Top Soul Albums, and her subsequent releases have been equally impactful. Her raw, husky voice blends seamlessly with her Fender Rhodes playing, bringing together jazz, soul, broken beat, and R&B into that signature Allysha Joy sound.
‘Joy proves that she is not only an incredibly talented vocalist, but also a diverse musician. Jazz, hip hop and R&B influences and her honest and personal songwriting’ (The AU Review).
