Amsterdam free funk band DASH! (Ornstein, Glerum, Hoeke) meets international jazz folk trio with an exciting line-up: accordion, tuba and drums. Your concert ticket gives additional access to the public rehearsal at Splendor on May 24.
The three musicians in DASH! like challenges. The Amsterdam free funk group, with a core of saxophone, bass guitar and drums, has performed with dancers, poets and actors. Now they will collaborate with the trio of Italian accordion player Luciano Biondini, French tuba player Michel Godard and Swiss percussionist Lucas Niggli.
The trio Biondini/Godard/Niggli is remarkable in every way, because of its line-up and its exciting blend of jazz, folk, classical and avant-garde. Biondini as well as Godard have played in the ensembles of Lebanese world music star Rabih Abou-Khalil. Lucas Niggli grew up in Cameroon and has played in avant-jazz bands such as Steamboat Switzerland.
‘The collaboration between these three musicians results in a clash of styles, which lets Bach dance on an eastern rhythm and spices up Coltrane’s Naima with a dose of fusion’ (Kwadratuur).
