* CURTIS FULLER SEXTET
BLUE TRAIN AND BEYOND
Curtis Fuller trombone, Josh Bruneau trompet, Ralph Reichert tenorsax, Rob Bargad piano, Milan Nikolic bas, Joris Dudli drums
Trombonist Curtis Fuller played with John Coltrane on one of jazz’ s most famousintros: ‘Blue Train’. As a band leader he presents a tribute to the eponymous album that appeared on Blue Note in 1957. With his soulful, fluent style Fuller can be likened to such master jazz trombonists as J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding. The 78 year-old musician, ‘a fine veteran’ (Penguin Guide to Jazz), will be playing in the Bimhuis for the first time since 1992. Aside from Coltrane’s classic he will play his own timeless compositions. ‘Mr. Fuller’s music has always displayed a sense of brightness’ (Downbeat).
