It remains a mystery why Curtis Clark is not much better known. As well as in his homeland, the USA, as in Holland, where he has been active for many years, he works on his intensive, personal style in which there is as much room for romance as there is for rhythmical fireworks. Recently the CD Home Safely was released on Ernst Glerum’s own record label, consisting of ten year old recordings on which Glerum and Han Bennink accompany the piano player in a loving way. ‘A surprisingly lyrical, uplifting and timeless record’, is what Koen Schouten wrote in the Volkskrant.
