CUBAN SUMMMER SESSIONS: SEPTETO SANTIAGUERO

Cuban top band plays 100% son, the traditional style made internationally renowned by Buena Vista Social Club. The concert will be preceded by the film documentary Son Del Oriente, about the legendary son duo Los Compadres.

The seven musicians of Septeto Santiaguero form the absolute top in Santiago de Cuba, the breeding ground of son. This traditional Cuban style experienced a rebirth thanks to the great success of Buena Vista Social Club. Septeto Santiaguero inspires young musicians and keeps the genre alive.

The group was formed around Fernando Dewar, a master of the Cuban guitar, the tres. He surrounds himself with three singers and three percussionists who together create beautiful harmonies and cheerful dance music. Instead of the obvious classics the group invigorates everybody with fiery guarachas.

Tonight the Bimhuis serves besides the à la carte menu a Cuban menu for 20 Euro. The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
