‘Indie Classical Festival’ Cross-linx connects the pop avant-garde to classically oriented musicians. With performances on unexpected corners of the Bimhuis and Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ.

In one varied musical evening Cross-linx makes and exposes unsuspected connections between the avant-garde pop scene and contemporary orchestras, ensembles and classically oriented musicians. Cross-linx doesn’t just figuratively go off the beaten path; the festival presents a musical adventure in unexpected corners of the concert venues.

In 2015 Cross-link once again establishes surprising collaborations. For example, beats pioneer Squarepusher will perform with the Metropole Orchestra, as will singer/songwriter Mark Lanegan (Queens of the Stone Age, Screaming Trees). We recognize great soloists from classical music such as viola player Nadia Sirota en violin player Pekka Kuusisto, ‘the best thing to happen to classical music in years’ (The Guardian), alongside well-known names from techno, electronica, sampling and breakdance.
