Coal Harbour

George Dumitriu violin, Hadewijch Hofland violin, Mark Mulder viola, Thomas van Geelen cello, Tom Ridderbeekx trumpet, Yoran Aarssen alto sax/clarinet, Romain Bly horn, Federico Calcagno bass clarinet, Robert Koemans piano, Thomas Pol bass, Willem Romers drums

Feedforward is the latest project of Coal Harbour. The audiovisual fairytale addresses the consequences of the blind and endless pursuit of growth. Composer and pianist Robert Koemans wrote the instrumental suite. The story is visualized through the animations by Tsjisse Talsma and Sarah Pannekoek, known for their illustrations for New York Times, Washington Post, and many other media.

Coal Harbour is a unique Rotterdam-based collective that does not shy away from experimentation. With their cinematic compositions and cutting-edge improvisations, they blur the boundaries between jazz and classical music. A small, yet bombastic orchestra with the intimacy of a chamber music ensemble. Following the successful debut performance JOLT (2018), Feedforward is the first project in which they fuse visuals with music.
