Composer, conductor and artistic director Tijn Wybenga and sixteen young musicians take you on an exciting musical journey full of unexpected encounters. Half of the newly formed band consists of musicians from the Middle East & Africa and the other half of international students from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. This concert is the result of two days of experimentation in which diverse musical traditions are freely mixed with contemporary jazz. The starting points have been determined, the outcomes are uncertain.

Tijn combines modern classical, jazz and electronica with improvisation, dance and theatre. His music is inspired by classical, hip-hop and jazz music, mixed with influences from South Africa, Turkey and India. From 2019 to 2021, Tijn was Artist in Residence at the BIMHUIS where he researched the sound of contemporary Amsterdam. He has produced two albums with his 14-piece ensemble AM.OK. His album Brainteaser (2021) has been praised in the national and international press and won the Deutscher Jazz Preis for best international debut album of the year.
