Corrie van Binsbergen and sixteen young musicians take you on a musical journey full of unexpected encounters. Half of the newly formed band consists of musicians from the Middle East & Africa and the other half of international students from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. This concert is the result of two days of experimentation in which musical traditions are freely mixed with contemporary jazz and improvisation. In addition to Corrie, Syrian percussionist and workshop leader Hashem Kabreet is co-host.
Corrie van Binsbergen has developed her own style and idiom in both her compositions and her guitar playing. She played with various formations, like Corrie en de Bokken, Vanbinsbergen Playstation, Toon Tellegen, at various major national and international jazz festivals. As a composer, guitarist and leader of Stichting Bokken, she has initiated many cross-border projects over the past 36 years.
