Coaches Kika Sprangers, Hashem Kabreet
Composer and saxophonist Kika Sprangers and 16 young musicians take you on an exciting musical journey through experimental jazz and warm-blooded folk music. This concert is the result of two days full of unexpected encounters and experimentation between Kika, international students of the Conservatorium of Amsterdam and musical newcomers. The starting points of the Club Partout Labs have been determined, the outcomes uncertain. Ecstasy, alienation and contagious energy go hand in hand. Kika is assisted by co-host and percussionist Hashem Kabreet.
With her velvet sound and enchanting compositions, Kika Sprangers has developed a unique style, a new sound on the jazz stages. She connects vulnerability and strength in unorthodox settings in sometimes hushed, sometimes loud symphonic passages. Jazz poetry that forces you to surrender to your imagination. By now it is impossible to imagine the Dutch jazz scene without Kika; she plays in various bands, composes for a.o. Jong Metropole and her debut album ‘Human Traits’ was nominated for an Edison.
Co-host and co-creator of the Club Partout Labs is Hashem Kabreet. The percussionist (frame drums/derbuka/cajon) and handpan player from Syria knows how to guide any diverse group of musicians through the creative process.
