Dynamic, hypnotic duets by saxophonist Colin Stetson and violinist Sarah Neufeld, known from the bands Arcade Fire, Bon Iver and Bell Orchestre. Support act is the pioneering guitarist Aart Strootman.

Indie classical festival Cross-linx connects the contemporary classical music world with the pop avant-garde. Aside from the regular festival there is a related concert series, Club cross-linx. The duo Colin Stetson and Sarah Neufeld will appear in the first edition of Club Cross-linx at the Bimhuis. They have worked together before in various groups including the successful Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire.

Colin Stetson has made name in recent years as a true sensation on bass saxophone, which he transforms into a complete brass ensemble including percussion. The American saxophonist has collaborated with among others Tom Waits en David Byrne. His hypnotic solo pieces include impressive circular breathing technique, as well as amplification of the saxophone’s sounds through contact microphones.

Violinist Sarah Neufeld has collaborated with producer/composer Nils Frahm and released a solo album, Hero Brother, which has received positive reviews: ‘a dynamic world of haunted melodies and pristine neck work’, according to Consequence of Sound. Together with Colin Stetson she has played in Bon Iver and Bell Orchestre. As a duo they appeared o the soundtrack of the film Blue Caprice. This year they will release their fully fledged duo album.

Support act is the pioneering guitarist Aart Strootman. With ensemble’s such as Lunapark and Stargaze he regularly explores the boundaries of pop and classical music. He played solo concerts from Amsterdam to Wellington, effortlessly blending music by Bryce Dessner (The National) and Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) with contemporary music by Steve Reich and Steven Mackey . Last year was his soloist debut with the New York Philharmonic
