Keyboard player and composer Christian Wallumrød is a prominent musician in the contemporary Norwegian jazz scene. His quartet has an unusual line-up, with jazz trumpet player Arve Henriksen, drummer Per Oddvar Johansen and folk musician Nils Økland on the hardangar fiddle, a Norwegian stringed instrument. The result is nuanced, typically Scandinavian music, inspired by rough nature and influenced by the harmonious minimalism of composers such as Arvo Pärt.
