Last year the talented 22 year old trumpet player Christian Scott from New Orleans released his debut album entitled Rewind That, which American critics regarded as the most important jazz debut of the last ten years and he played in the Melkweg and at North Sea Jazz (his real Dutch debut was at the age of 17 when he played at the Bimhuis in his uncle Donald Harrison’s band). His new CD called Anthem is, just like A Tale Of God’s Will by his fellow townsman and trumpeter Terence Blanchard, a musical coming to terms with the havoc wreaked in New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina. “Suddenly there are a lot of jazz-rock bands around, and Mr. Scott’s might be the Coldplay of them: A comfortable romance comes along with the echo, volume and drama.” (The New York Times).
