CHRISTIAN SCOTT QUINTET

With his CD Anthem Christian Scott positions himself in the vanguard of the new generation of jazz musicians. The album is a strong progression for the young trumpet player from New Orleans. Anthem opens with an emotional response to the dramatic impact of the hurricane Katrina. From then on the grooves pile up and the music displays influences from Miles Davis to J Dilla and Radiohead. As a teenager Scott played the Bimhuis stage alongside his uncle Donald Harrison. From early on he was also in demand with artists like Prince, Jill Scott and Mos Def.
