CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE TRIO

AFTERWARDS DJ ALVIZ AT THE CAFE

Christian McBride bas, Christian Sands piano, Ulysses Owens jr drums

Christian McBride, today’s best jazz bassist according to leading US critics, emits joy with his ‘people music’, with which he likes to move as many people as possible.

For years bassist Christian McBride has dominated the authoritative Downbeat Critics Poll, not only because of his virtuoso playing, but also because of the joy he emits. Christian McBride always says he plays ‘people music’, music with which he likes to move as many people as possible.

From jazz legends such as Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny to pop stars such as James Brown, Sting and The Roots; Christian McBride supported them on acoustic and electric bass. His playing always has power, in the solos as well as his rock steady accompaniment.

‘The deep, dark-maple tone that Christian McBride elicits from an upright bass is one of jazz’s forthright pleasures’ (New York Times).
