Saxophone and clarinet player Chris Speed and drummer Jim Black have been playing together for year in different bands; they appeared at the Bimhuis with Pachora, Yeah No and Human Feel. The brand new Endangered Blood is, once again, a springboard for adventurous compositions and improvisations. Speed and alto player Oscar Noriega enhance each other’s melody lines. Bass player Trevor Dunn perfectly understands Black’s complex, propulsive drum parts. ‘High-energy, melody-driven themes exploded into all-out jams, hammered home by Jim Black’s aggressive drumming’ (Time Out New York).
