Rough Diamonds ‘Round Midnight means short, free admissible sets after the regular program in which you can discover the talents of the Conservatorium of Amsterdam. This edition Chaerin Im presents “The Back of Beyond”.

“The Back of Beyond” is a joint project of Korean composer/pianist Chaerin Im and composer Sing Youngnam. For this project they came up with a simple musical motif, which serves as a basis for the eight tracks on the album. This motif morphs, develops and blends with elements takes from classical music, free improvisation and ambient. It is a mix of dynamic/unexpected improvisations and drastic string arrangements, all coming from their personal sound.
