CELLO SAMBAS JAQUES MORELENBAUM
BRASIL
Jaques Morelenbaum-cello, Lula Galvao-guitar, Carlos Balla-drums
Like a Brazilian Gil Evans, Morelenbaum has been taking care of the atmospheric orchestrations for a great variety of artists, from Cesaria Evora to Ryuichi Sakamoto and for fellow country men like Caetano Veloso and Egberto Gismonti whom he also accompanied as an instrumentalist. The classically trained cellist, who played for Leonard Bernstein, learned everything about the samba in Tom Jobim’s group and, like a true Tropicalista, wasn’t afraid of some progressive rock. Now he steps into the forefront with his own group. Meet a great musical thinker.
