CARTE BLANCHE ZIV TAUBENFELD
Carte blanche for the adventurous bass clarinet player and composer Ziv Taubenfeld from Amsterdam, who presents his acoustic trio Bones and the band Plots, featuring established Dutch jazz musicians.
The Bimhuis regularly offers carte blanche to outstanding performers with a penchant for improvisation. This edition features bass clarinet player Ziv Taubenfeld. Earlier this year he made a great impression with the debut album of his trio Bones (Leo Records). For this acoustic formation he composes clear, transparent music combining swing and abstraction. Alongside Bones he presents Plots, a band featuring well-known Dutch jazz musicians. Together they improvise in a song-like manner.
Ziv Taubenfeld was classically trained as a clarinet player in Karmiel, Israel, where he became fascinated with bass clarinet. In The Netherlands he studied with Michael Moore and became active in the Amsterdam jazz and improvised music scene. In the trio Bones he plays with youth friends from his native Israel.
