The BIMHUIS regularly offers carte blanche to remarkable talents from the Dutch and international music worlds. This time Gard Nilssen is offered the opportunity to curate a concert evening. The Norwegian drummer made name with Puma and Bushman’s Revenge: power trio’s featuring heavy electric guitars. He also took part in acoustic improv bands such as Cortex and his own Acoustic Unity. In the past ten years he played on around 50 albums on trendsetting labels such as Rune Grammofon, Gigafon and Clean Feed and he collaborated with influential musicians such as Mathias Eick and Lasse Marhaug.
‘Norwegian drummer Gard Nilssen has earned a reputation for powering some of his homeland’s most aggressive and loudest improvising units. But he leaves no doubt to his bona fide jazz chops’ (Downbeat).
