Trumpet player Verploegen is much more than the driving force behind the excellent hard bop formation The Houdinis. He proved that with his collaborations with Jaap Blonk and in his own bands like Toïs. The way he fills in his carte blanche illustrates his adventurous personality. The first concert is for a double duo: two trumpets, two pianos. Mengelberg needs no introduction, the Japanese musicians come from the New York downtown scene. In the ‘electracoustic’ quartet you’ll find an open exploration floating on contemporary grooves.
