CARLOS WARD LOWLANDS TRIO

Alto saxophonist Carlos Ward played with John Coltrane, Dollar Brand/ Abdullah Ibrahim, Carla Bley, Don Cherry and Cecil Taylor and has been leading his own band since 1988 with (among others) trumpet player Woody Shaw which led to the beautiful CD, ‘Lito’, recorded at the North Sea Jazz Festival. ‘Ward is a virtuoso of immense improvisational facility, with a hot but modern edge to his sound, whose every line is songful and urgent’, is what All Music Guide wrote.
