CAMPBELL BROTHERS
CAMPBELL BROTHERS
- Starts
- 20:30
Afro-American gospel with blazing steel guitars. The Campbell Brothers will perform their unique version of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. ‘A sound that kicks holy butt’ (NPR).
For more than half a century the steel guitar is at the heart of the services of the Keith Dominion Holiness Church. The Campbell Brothers are the most famous disciples of this Afro-American church community. Their exciting gospel music is called Sacred Steel. The formula is irresistibly raw and funky, with brother Phil on electric guitar, Darick on lap steel and Chuck Campbell stealing the show on pedal steel. Chuck has been called the Jimi Hendrix of the steel guitar.
After seven years the Campbell Brothers are back at the Bimhuis, now for the first time with their unique gospel take on John Coltrane’s spiritual masterpiece A Love Supreme. They created their version last summer in honor of the 50th anniversary of this timeless jazz album.
‘A soul-stirring blend of gospel and the power and volume of electric blues and rock, a sound as hot as brimstone that kicks holy butt’ (NPR, National Public Radio).
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
