Bruut!
Saturday15 December 2018

From Nagasaki to Vlieland, BRUUT! has made people sweat, scream and, above all, dance. Raw Hammond sounds, hard grooves and sixties surf blend together into a danceable whole. Eye-catcher of the foursome is rising star alto sax player Maarten Hogenhuis, who has performed at the BIMHUIS in bands such as Krupa & The Genes and The More Socially Relevant Jazz Music Ensemble.

Following the albums BRUUT! (2012), Fire (2013), Mad Pack (2015) and Superjazz (2017), as well as two Edison nominations, this fall sees the release of album V, which was made with Paul Willemsen, renowned producer of Caro Emerald, Michelle Williams and many others. According to the band members themselves this new record is the most danceable BRUUT!-album ever!

‘BRUUT! is a rowdy company that scoffs at the rules and formalities of the jazz scene. BRUUT! makes brutal jazz out of juicy boogaloo and fat rhythm & blues’ (de Volkskrant).

Maarten Hogenhuis saxophones, Folkert Oosterbeek hammond, Thomas Rolff bass, Felix Schlarmann drums
