BRAZILIAN SUMMER SESSIONS no.3 2010

The Man Who Bottled Clouds is a documentary about composer Humberto Teixeira, the man behind the baião, one of the most exciting authentic Brazilian musical forms. Teixeira wrote the famous Brazilian song Asa Branca, which was immortalized by his partner and baião-icon Luiz Gonzaga.

After the film guitarist Nelson Latif gathers singers and musicians around the pub table for a ‘roda de baião e forró’. During this roda authentic baião and forró will be played like they are at traditional June festivities in Brazil. The session will feature the baião, the musical form that was the foundation for styles like forró, côco and embolada.

Made possible by the Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst and VSB Fonds.
