BRAZILIAN SUMMER SESSIONS no.1 2010

São Paulo is the binding factor in this opening night of the Brazilian Summer Sessions. The Brazilian metropolis is the setting for Versifying, the documentary on old and new forms of improvised song and poetry forms such as repente, embolada, partido alto and hip hop.

The film forms the overture to the concert by Paula Lima, the São Paulo-based diva who is one of the talent judges on the Brazilian version of Idols. She created her own style, ‘samba chic’: sensual Afro-Brazilian dance music performed with the glamour of contemporary funk and soul.
